Discover Oia and the island of Santorini

Finally arrived at the hotel, and ready to indulge yourselves into Oia’s magic? Here are some ideas for out & around activities to make your staying memorable.

Oia is one of the symbols of Santorini, with a breathtaking view to the Caldera, sparkling clifftop cave houses, and a peaceful tranquil charm. You can enjoy your day, by taking a relaxed walk, navigating yourselves through the picturesque alleys of Oia.

Discover Atlantis Bookstore, one of the most magical bookshops in the world, packed with all kinds of eclectic books. Continue to visit some of the local craft shops with handmade artistic pottery and unique gifts. On your way, you could enjoy a desert or ice cream, in some of the desert shops you will discover, or continue your walk to visit the traditional St. George church in the main square of Oia.

For a more adventurous experience, you can take part in some of the Sailing cruise tours that are being organized across the Caldera, combined with exceptional food and drinks, where you can see up close the volcano, the hot springs, the beaches, the lighthouse and of course the famous Oia sunset.

Τhe Oia legendary sunset is a must-see by itself, so you can hike through the narrow alleys towards the Oia St. Nicholas Castle, or towards the Byzantine Castle Ruins and save a spot to indulge yourselves in the magical view.

For a lovely swimming experience, you can visit Ammoudi Bay, or the neighbouring Armeni Bay, with a donkey ride or on foot, and combine your swim with a light lunch or dinner of Greek delicacies in some of the traditional taverns located there. For a bolder choice, we could recommend a 10 km hike trail leading to the island’s capital, Fira. It is a demanding cliff hike, however the view will be breathtaking all along.

Apart from Oia, Santorini offers a variety of experiences for its visitors!

So, here is also a small list of what not to miss when in Santorini:

  • A laid-back wine tasting experience in one of the many beautiful wine estates of the island
  • A cultural trip to Akrotiri, the exceptionally preserved prehistoric settlement of the island, and one of the most important in the Aegean.
  • Visit the Archaeological museum of Santorini, located in island’s capital, Fira, and maintaining a great collection of artifacts and findings from the excavations of the island.
  • An exciting one day boat tour, to explore the Volcano including the Palia & Nea Kameni, the Hot springs, and Thirassia island.

We truly hope that you will enjoy your stay, and do not hesitate to request more information, we are always happy to be of service!
